Welcome
Welcome to The Green School Sixth Form.
At The Green School Sixth Form, we work in partnership with students, staff and parents to make the Sixth Form experience the very best it can be for all involved. We pride ourselves on offering an holistic and enriching education, founded on our inclusive christian ethos, where we aim to support students in developing the necessary skills and knowledge they need in order to be able to pursue their life-long goals.
The Green School Sixth Form operates as a consortium Sixth Form made up of students from The Green School for Girls and The Green School for Boys. Students are taught in co-educational classes and mixed tutor groups, while still being able to retain their identity as a member of the wider school community in their home school through attendances as assemblies and whole school events, the leadership roles they take on and the activities and charity events in which they participate.
Our academic focus at The Green School Sixth Form is strong; our results are consistently in line with, and in many cases, above the national average and are improving year on year. Students who study with us go on to a range of impressive post-18 destinations, including, in recent years, studying at Oxbridge, attending Medical School, numerous courses at Russell Group universities and completing apprenticeships with renowned companies such as Price Waterhouse Coopers and CISCO.
We offer a broad range of Sixth Form subjects, including A levels, BTEC and CTEC National qualifications, all of which are taught by subject specialists who have the interests of the students at the forefront of everything they do. Here, at The Green School Sixth Form, lessons are relevant, challenging, expertly planned and delivered with energy, ensuring an enjoyable classroom experience for all involved. Each subject supports its in-class learning with a Google classroom, an online forum where staff post lesson resources, assignments, suggestions for wider reading and feedback for the students to access online.
Broadening Horizons is our enrichment programme; this allows students to select an additional qualification to complete which will help to develop their transferable skills, ready for university study or the world of apprenticeships and work. Whatever the personal interest of our students, there is an enrichment course suited to them.
We recognise that post-16 study is challenging, both academically and in terms of making the transition to becoming an independent, life-long learner. As such, there are numerous things in place to support students' learning; these include supervised study sessions as part of the student timetable, a bespoke tutorial programme focusing on the development of study skills, resilience, well-being and personal growth, opportunities to attend super-curricular events such as subject specific masterclasses, trips, workshops, lectures and more. Furthermore, our teaching staff are always on hand to offer additional one-to-one support as requested, in addition to offering extra revision and exam preparation lessons.
Beyond academia, we place significant importance on the health and well-being of our students and have systems in place to support those who may, at times, feel overwhelmed or in need of additional guidance or advice. We value the importance of student voice and the development of leadership skills and, as such, have numerous opportunities in place for students to contribute to and lead in the wider school community.
Added to all of this, we have fun! From team-building days, to fund-raising initiatives, to movie nights and socials, The Green School Sixth Form is a community, where students enjoy spending time with one another in a supportive and friendly environment. It really is a pleasure to belong to The Green School Sixth Form.
