Each Sixth Form student is a member of a tutor group led by a member of staff, the personal tutor. Personal tutors are all Key Stage Five teachers and have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and demands of Sixth Form life. Their role is to work with the students throughout their Sixth Form career, giving them advice and guidance about academics and future plans, such as university application, in addition to being on hand to support their well-being and general day-to-day Sixth Form experience.
Students attend registration with their tutor every morning, giving them a chance to check in and receive any notices or information they need. Students also work together to deliver discussion activities based on current affairs and cultural issues, via our online partners The Day, each morning. Afternoon registration time include assemblies, well-being and motivational sessions and opportunities for wider reading related to academics.
Furthermore, all Sixth Form Students have one hour a week of bespoke tutorial provision on their timetables; these taught sessions cover careers advice, PSHCE topics, study skills and well-being support.
In Year 13, Sixth Form tutors write personalised references for UCAS, apprenticeships and job applications for each student in their form.
We prioritise our students' well-being, recognising that the Sixth Form years are challenging in terms of both academics and time management. As such, in addition to the daily contact with their personal form tutor, students can also speak to our Inclusion Lead, Miss Paisley, for advice and support regarding emotional, social and mental health.
If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your daughter/son's personal tutor first. Hover over and click on the academic tutor's name to email them.
